Jo Hanson’s dream come true

Jo Hanson, founder of the Artist in Residency program at the San Francisco dump Following a 1989 state law requiring all jurisdictions in California to plan to divert from landfills at least 50% of their waste by the year 2000, Jo Hanson proposed an Artist in Residence program at the San Francisco dump. Jo died in March 2007, but the visionary program she founded and nurtured lives on. Judith Selby-Lang attended her funeral and wrote about her unusual burial. Hats off to a classy lady!

Oh yeah, happy Year of the Rat.
