Visible Trash – Art into Action
There’s too much of our crap on the planet and no good place to put it. Did you know there’s a patch of the Pacific Ocean (the North Pacific Gyre) so completely covered in plastic trash you can’t even see the water? Ewwww! Until the whole system changes, trash is here to stay. Might as well put it to good use – but where does a trash fashionista start? Making a trash bag tutu isn’t gonna save the world, but you’ll sure look good trying.
Visible Trash lounges at the crossroads of art and activism, reminding art to be conscious and politik to be playful. Visible Trash – Art into Action will focus on trash as a medium, trash as a concept and trash as a global political issue. Sure it’s fun to create with trash, but what is it really, where does it come from and how can we keep it to a minimum?
Participating artists include Nancy Judd, Judith Selby-Lang and Richard Lang, Thierry Tillier, Georges-Pascal Ricordeau, Ingrid Goldbloom Bloch, Anne Cox, Pam Longobardi, Costas Schuler, Ruby Re-Usable, Robin Worley, Lutherie Urbaine, Claudia Borgna, Brydee Rood and . . .
The show is in the incubation phase now and hopefully will make its first appearance sometime in 2010.
